I fell in love head over heals, even though I hated love stories !!!

If after wayward reviews you did muster the courage to actually go and watch I hate love stories, then you and I will have a lot to talk about. However, for all those who were blessed enough to be spared the torment of actually spending on the movie fare, you might want to read the review first.

Opening the movie to a monologue by Imran Khan that just doesn’t seem to end made a lot of people groan, due to poor dialogue delivery and a flimsy script. However, after the few initial minutes the length of the monologue dwindles and the audiences feels a little lighter as some moments of fun come around. The script has a sprinkling of some mimed funny scenes which make the audience laugh every now and then.

The performances are slightly marred by the poor dialogues written for the film. Also, the cameraman has done a few lousy scenes where pan shots that move to a close up seem to be blurred. However there are some great landscape shots of the scenic beauty of New Zealand which are the high point of the film. The sets and the view along with improved acting by the actors, improves the second half significantly.

The movie turns out to be more of a spoof on the typical romances of the forever romantic Karan Johar, with Imran Khan doing it all from singing, moping, running around air ports and first rejecting the “in love” Sonam Kapoor and then being rejected by her in the next leap.

However, Vishal and Shekhar have done an outstanding job with the music, with some feet tapping and some emotional numbers, which play throughout the movie.

Well, 2 stars for the movie, due to its weak plot, inadequate dialogue and not very spectacular performances. To be fair to Punit Malhotra, the first time director has done an over all good job with the movie. Still, it would be a better suggestion to view the movie at home after the DVD release then spending on PVR tickets.
